KALAMAZOO, Michigan, Dec 1, 2005 – Harris Teeter food market chain will expand their Naturals® line of organic and ecological-friendly products with some exciting new merchandise: 100% corn based cold drink cups. The cups, made from American grown corn, are environmentally sustainable and fully compostable in commercial facilities. Available in two packaging configurations of 20 and 50 cups, they compliment Harris Teeters broad line of Naturals products.
With health, well being and the environment in mind, Harris Teeter Naturals have been a success since the private label brand was introduced in 2002. From apple juice to peanut butter and now drink cups, Harris Teeter Naturals are made from the finest natural and organic goods available.
Fabri-Kal Corporation produces the cups for Harris Teeter. Headquartered in Kalamazoo, Michigan and in continuous operation since 1950, Fabri-Kal is one of the largest converters of the corn-based material, Poly Lactic Acid (PLA), used in the creation of the cups. Fabri-Kal’s partner, Natureworks® LLC of Minnetonka, Minnesota, exclusively produces PLA.
